How Women Can Wear Thermals Under Any Dress Without the Bulk Showing

Shirt and trouser looks good because it flows. For women, a thick thermal layer under it can spoil the look. The good news: with a few simple choices, you can stay warm and still look neat.

Pick the right fit

A women's thermal should sit close to your body but not pull. Loose thermals bunch up at the waist and sleeves and show through the kameez. Very tight ones leave marks. Choose a slim cut with flat seams, and go by your measurements, not just your usual size.

Pick the right fabric

Thin, soft knits stay flat and keep you dry. Thick waffle weaves add bulk. A women's thermal camisole is often enough under a kameez, and women's thermal pajama bottoms hide under a shalwar much better than heavy leggings.

Check that nothing shows through

Light kameez fabric can show what is under it, especially in daylight. Wear skin-tone thermals under light colors and dark thermals under dark colors. Also check the neckline: a thermal that sits slightly above or below the kameez neckline looks planned, not accidental.

Take care of them

Wash your thermals in cool water on a gentle cycle and dry them flat in the air. Hot dryers damage fine knits. Keep them folded, not hung, and good women's thermals will keep their shape for seasons.
